I am an ATT customer for 12+ years. I turned out that if I upgrade the lines in my family plan with 5 lines the bill will become unbelieveably high. My target was to keep the bill around $260. I called customer center and informed them about moving out and they offered a few discounts and my bill was down to $175. I called to confirm that if I upgrade one or more lines the discounts are going to stay and I was told that indeed my discounts will remain effective foreever. During at least one call and 1 store visit no one pointed out that there was a billing error. I upgraded two lines and my bill went up to $326. This included the device cost and activation fee and the bill from subsequent month was expected to be $275 and could go higher if I upgraded more lines. Verizon offered me upgade for all five lines (new devices Samsung S6 and Iphone 6/6s) with a monthly bill of only $265 (yes I did have to pay the tax). When I contacted ATT to sort out this issue as I realized that ATT had delibrately trapped me into upgrading lines and into staying with ATT the agent said that there was a billing mistake last month and I got 'benified' as I had a lower bill. The first agent realized and admitted the mistake (acknowleding shame and bad business ethics) the next two agents were unmoved. I know that ATT will never honestly admit and fix the issue so that I can eject myself from this trap. I would like to know what forums are available for customers like me to settle this dispute with ATT. BBB? Wish there was an authority who could do an audit and hold ATT accountable (ideally penalize them for being dishonest to their customers).
