I decide to pay off my installment plan so that I will be able to upgrade. I work a busy schedule so I go online and follow the instructions that informs me I could pay off my installment plan and then upgrade my phone after. Once my bank account is charged and I receive a confirmation email from at&t stating that my installment plan has been paid off. After, I attempt to upgrade to a new phone and the website says I have to pay off my installment plan first, which I already had done. After speaking on the phone with a representative, they inform me that because I have combined billing I will have to pay off the installment plan in person and that they will cancel my payment which will go back into my account after 1-2 days. The next day, I go into an at&t store and after they tell me the phone is not in stock, I wait another 30 minutes to at least pay off the installment plan to be able to upgrade. Then they tell me I have to become an authorized person on the account, after 20 minutes of waiting to become authorized to the account they tell me that I can not pay off the installment plan due to combined billing.
I don't understand why I can't upgrade my phone because we chose combined billing? One account doesn't have to do with the other, especially when the bills perfectly state what is being paid for. Besides unlinking my combined billing, is there another way that I can pay off my installment plan so that I can upgrade my phone?
I don't even understand why combined billing has anything to do with upgrades and installment plans. If anyone could explain to me why one is affected by the other that would truly help.
