warranty problems

My Samsung S5 active phone was estimated about 5 months old and the screen stopped working, Samsung sent me what was supposed to be a new phone and I sent mine back. 2 Months later I get a letter stating the screen was cracked it is not warranty and I will be billed $599.95 for the new phone I received and then found out they sent me a refurbished phone charging me full price. I have video of the phone without a cracked screen putting it in the box. Customer service at AT&T told me there is nothing they can do and it is a charge on my bill that connot be taken off. I called Samsung and they stated that is how they received the item and they not responsible for shipping damage. I stated even though you sent me the box and advised to sent phone back in the box. They stated yes. I feel this is an ethically corrupt situation and am a loss for words of how disappointed I am in the service I received. I have since switched carriers and cancelled the account. I have yet to recieve the phone back they state has a cracked screen.
