I need to switch billing name, that's all.....

Hello.  I have been to 2 stores and no one can understand what I am asking.  I simply want to switch the bill payer.  The account is under my name and I want to switch it to be under my son's name.  We have 3 people total on this plan now, and we dont want anything to change, ie: same plan, same upgrade status, etc.  (I understand the new bill payer has to fill out an app and have a credit check. ) However, when I start the online process it says the current plan will be canceled and a new one chosen!  I cannot understand why simply switching billing to another phone in my circle is going to change the whole account as if it were new?  It should not be this weird! 

 

The reason why I need to do this is so I can leave this plan and go to another persons plan, but first things first.

 

Is this the way it has to be?  It sounds convoluted.
