IPhone 6 upgrade billing frustration!

I upgraded my phone to IPhone 6.  I wanted to pay for the phone (as I allways do) straight. I recieved the bill for $649.00 (part of installment plan). I spend over 3 hours trying to have ATT change the billing, I can not believe the incompetence of ATT representatives. I spend 1 hour with Latitia from customer care, 1 hour with young rep from the Norwell office and 15 minutes with Jocelyn. I even asked for manager. Aparently there is no manager on duty???

I was asked to bring the new phone to the store, return it, repurchase it so they can change the billing? The young sales rep in the store was talking to me sarcasticaly, not understanding why I cant pay off the phone.  He would see me leave ATT altogether before he would offer any soultion! He also said, that I have to pay restocking fee of $30 something dollars to return the phone! When I go on line and order the phone with 2 year agreement I can do that, but the system changes it to installment payment. I am furious! Can you please help?
