Data Charges

I see so many post about the extreme data charges. I thought I would just start fresh. I am so frustrated with AT&T. I don't even no what to do. I have been an AT&T customer for at least 10 years and have not had any problems till May 3rd of this year. I have three phones on my account with two of them still having the unlimited plan. I added a phone for my daughter back on May 3 of this year and since then I have been hit with data charges that are just horrible. My bill for the two phones have not changed over the 10 years. So I have wifi at home and it's summer time so my daughter has been home and on the wifi. I also turned off the cellular data and made sure the hot spot was off. The first billing cycle April 27th to May 26th I had an overage data charge of $390 dollars for her line. I did get a text message tony phone saying that her line was over. I called in and the AT&T rep was awesome and said she issued a credit and that she would have to wait till the end of the billing cycle to complete the credit that if I received and overages for this billing cycle to ignore them. So I got the next months bill with an additional $430 dollars in data usage! After the first bill was not completely credited and the $430 dollar bill I didn't want to pay the bill till this get fixed partially because I have been laid off for the last year and money it tight. Well the service was suspended since last Saturday and is not back on yet. I have been working with someone in billing that is the best customer service I have ever delt with in any company and she is trying to get this resolved but no luck yet. I have at this point another $20 dollars in data charges along with two rostral fees of $40 dollars ( second will be when my service is restored). Every rep that I talked to since this started agrees that there is something strange happening. I also took my daughters phone to the apple store and they confirmed that the cellular data and the hot spot was off. Also one of the reps mentioned that my daughter could have been tethering a computer off of her phone. I know that she has not been doing that (I would stake my life on it)

So i was offered one resolve. I was told that if I were to switch plans and move into a family share plan that offered a 20 gb of data they would credit $930 dollars. I really don't want to do that but I can't pay a $1000 cell phone bill. Reluctantly I agreed to do so if they would restore the service. I asked if they could restore the service and have the bill set up so I could pay at the end of the month. That didn't seem to be a problem but I was told that they would need to call me back. It's been three days now and nothing. I don't want to call in and talk to someone else, because spreading with a new rep means I would have to start over and explain everything again. There are so many notes on my account that when I talk to a new person I have to sit on hold for 15 minutes while they try to figure out where the account is.

As I mention I have been laid off from my sales job of 18 years and money is tight but I have been paying my bill. Since I agreed to forgo my unlimited data plan (because that's the only way att would credit the overage charges that accrued while my daughters line was on my home wi/fi.

Last thought,
After researching this issue, it's amazing to see how many people are having this same issue. I had a person I talked to in att tech support basically tell me that they know how much of an issue it is but they currently do not have the technology to correct the the problem. So seeing how many people are calling in or havering a problem with the data overages, wouldn't it be in the best Intrest of AT&T to bring back the unlimited data plans? The amount of money you spend on fielding the calls and crediting the overages because you recognize that it's a real problem. Also on top of that how many customers left AT&T because of this same frustrations? I currently have verizon fios at home for tv and Internet and they have been trying to get me to switch over to there cell service. I really don't want to switch because I really like AT&T and have never had issues till I added the new line. Again I keep coming back to thinking how much AT&T could save if they just brought back the unlimited data plans. I feel like AT&T has so many customers that they don't care if I am here or not.

I apologize in advance for my poor writing but I am just so frustrated and want this handled so I can go back to having a cell phone again. I beg art to please help me.

Thanks

Mike
