Unethical and deceptive business practices. I changed a number on one of the three lines I had with AT&T back in November. They charged a fee to change the number , which I agreed to. Unbeknownst to me..the company took that as an opportunity to change my plan ..WITHOUT MY PERMISSION ! I had a grand fathered plan of UNlimited Talk, Text & DATA...they don't have unlimited data in any of their new plans. I called , complained, they said they would try to resolve it. I get an email saying that cause it was past 90 days, they couldn't change it back. Ironic, I don't get anything saying that the data usage has changed in December, January, or February. But after the march billing cycle ..BOOM... hey you are over in data usage and it's going to cost you more. In addition... At&T can't show me where I ever agreed to a data plan change... I told the superviosr that if she can provide me with Proof that I agreed to change the plan.... the conversation is done... my issue ...I should have read the fine print..I just have to deal... At&t says they can't provide me with anything showing I changed the plan , cause they can't go back that far. But they can show me a bill.
Here's what I want to know... Why ... when I come to an AT&T site... to change a phone number... is my rate plan changed on the sly. why is it on the table. No where when I was changing the number did it say ...you are agreeing to a rate plan change.... NO WHERE ...Cause I read it..I had that plan for years... I was grandfathered in .... and refused to change it. AT&T has been trying to get me to get on a family share plan ... Which I know will cost more and be a major issue. I have been with AT&T since they were AT&T , Cingular and back. What they did was deceptive, unethical and poor business practice. I believe it was also illegal..But I'm not a lawyer so I could be wrong. But essentially... AT%T will be able to change your contract.... without you even knowing it... and then they will NOT provide you with the proof to you of your agreeing to anything..Even if to protect themselves from complaints like mine... Like I told the woman on the phone... You essentially burn the proof of contracts, terms and conditions.. You can't prove or disprove what you signed and agreed to. You just have to live with their decision to find a way to charge you more. I have been with this cell phone co for 20 years. This is my first and only company I have ever had a phone with ..with the same cell number..at least mine..It was my husbands # I changed. But I will be reporting this to the Michigan Attorney General .
