This is ridiculous and unethical. AT&T is charging me for service for the last month of my contract and also a termination fee. How can a company justify making me pay for the service and then $95 for not using it. Seriously??? Thanks for almost 20 years. What an awesome farewell present. In case you don't believe me here is the transcript from the chat.

Melanie P: How can AT&T justify billing me for my phone through the end of the contract and yet also billing me for early cancellation when I paid for the phone through the contract period?

Melanie P: You cannot bill me both

Shierly T: Termination Fee is a different charge from the monthly service charge Melanie.

Melanie P: I am not arguing whether it is enough to pay for both I am stating that the $95 charge is bogus and unreasonable since I am being billed for the month

Shierly T: The only way for us to get the fee waived is for you to port the number back to us.

Melanie P: If there is a charge for service then there cannot be early termination because I have paid for service through the end of the contract. Period.

Shierly T: I am sorry Melanie. The Termination Fee and the Monthly service charge are two different charges. Termination Fee is associated with your contract while your service charges has something to do with your plans and services.

Melanie P: It is bad busines it what it is. If you can seriously tell me that for less than two weeks, weeks in which I have paid for service that you need to charge me a cancellation fee and that AT&T considers that a fair practice then you and AT&T are delusional and unethical.

Shierly T: We respect your position about this Melanie. We have been transparent in all ways possible. Our resolution is always  based on our policy which we made sure you are aware of even before you agreed to your 2 year agreement. Please do not get us wrong.

Melanie P: There is nothing that you are except wrong. You can waive the $95 fee which is the right thing to do or not chanrge me for the service, but charging for both is not transparent and to argue that point is ridiculous. I would like to speak to your supervisor.
