Overbilling for 2 days of Service

Is it typical for AT&T to charge $64.60 for 2 days of wireless service. I had my cell phone with AT&T for 2 days before switching carriers and they charged me for a full month of service. When I called AT&T to inquire, a customer service representative told me I would receive a credit for the days that I did not have service. I had to pay the bill and now I am being told that if there was a credit it would show and would be sent to me automatically. My current statement displays $0.00 and AT&T is now telling me a refund would be sent to me automatically. How can this be if my current bill displays $0.00?
