I currently have had and am dealing with a very similar problem with at&t wireless. I went into a best buy location sept. 10,2012 and was "looking" at possibly purchasing an iPhone 5. When I considered the matter further, I decided that I did not want, nor could I afford an iPhone 5 at this time. Well the individual from best buy advised me since the order was cancelled, so was the initial phone service. I then received, much to my surprise, a bill, for an amount around $68 only 5 days later on 9/15/2012. I was upset, but not extremely because I knew I could take this to the best buy and have this taken care of. As of 9/13 I checked my credit history to find that at$&t has been reporting to a collections agency, which I am yet to determine if this in in or out of house with AT&T. I sent a letter and spoke to a representative who assured me this would be resolved, without further action required on my part. I was then reported to ANOTHER collections agency, further damaging my credit history, over the same account. I have now spoken to multiple representatives at AT&T regarding this issue, and have not the slightest idea of how to get this resolved.
