I was looking for an ipad in Nov, at which time the AT&T sales guy in store told me there's $200 promotion, so I went ahead and purchased from him. I was told the discount will be automatically posted to my account after 3 billing cycles. I waited 3 months but nothing happened, so I went back to store, and only to be told that I should call customer service. I called customer service, and of course they told me I'm not eligible for any discount and sent me back to the store. I talked to the sales guy again, who said he has submitted a ticket for me to customer service and just wait patiently. Another month went by, still nothing happened, I called customer service again, who told me "sorry, we have declined the case submitted by the store, as you are not eligible for any promotion, and the best we could do is to give you $25 credit for the inconvenience".
I am furious. The store was really misleading. If the store had not told me there's $200 discount, I could have bought the ipad from Staples or Bestbuy, which was offering similar promotion at the time. I am also shocked after numerous phone calls and store visits, AT&T customer services still would not come up with any satisfactory resolution.
My annual bill to AT&T is $3600 for 3 devices (iphone, ipad and blackberry), and I have been a loyal customer for the past 6 years.
I am just about to switch to other carriers ( perhaps Verizon) as my trust in AT&T is seriously damaged, but I'm posting here for just one last chance given to AT&T in case the community manager can suggest a better solution.
