transferring wireless home phone from att wireless to att uverse and the billing nightmare

My mother moved from her home (she had att dsl and att wireless home phone) to a assisted living facility. She called att internet and was told that dsl would not work (about two miles distance from her old home to her new location) and that only att uverse would work in the new location. She said fine. att uverse also told her that the wireless home phone would have to be transferred to att uverse. She said fine.

 

She just rec'd her final att wireless invoice. it included a termination fee of $150.00 since the wireless home phone was under contract with att wireless.

 

So she has the same hardware from her old phone (wireless phone) and the same number and is paying att uverse for the wireless home phone, BUT is being hit with a terminiation charge from att wireless.

 

I have talked with three levels of cusomter service at att wireless - same parrot answer "contract was with att wireless, not att uverse, termination fees apply".

 

What a hose job - going from one division of att to another, same hardware/phone number, and get charged a termination fee.

 

Talking with att wireless and att uverse has gotten me nothing but pointing fingers from wireless to uverse.

 

Is there anyone/dept to contact that speaks for att (like an onbudsman for the entire company)???
