ATT Customer Service Didn't Keep Their Words

I am using family share data plan and I have added a new line with new phone to the plan last month.  Before I added that new line, I had checked with ATT customer representitives and they told me I could have $25 discount for mobile share value saving for all new lines, so I can get $40-$25=$15 a line for talk&text.  But now, they told me this promotion ended long time ago and charinge me $40 a line.  What I am going to do now?  Cancel the new line?  It will get penalty since new phone.  I feel different agants have different anwsers.  Who should I listen to next time?  They should keep the words they told custmers!
