I spent over 5 hours trying to resolve a billing dispute with AT&T. It has not been resolved. I was disconnected 5 times and had to get back in the que line which lasted anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes each time. No one returned my call as promised.
I am in a area where I was told if I wanted to keep internet, then I would have to sign up for UVerse. I did. However, as a result, my bill for the months of Sept and Oct 2014 have doubled. Even though my standard bill with AT&T for both internet and wireless as quoted by AT&T should be $162/month plus taxes and fees; as a result of the switchover to UVerse, I was required to pay $290 in Sept. and they are asking for $308 in Oct. I was given no heads up that for two months my bills would be over the amount quoted. The only explanation I was given is that my prior billing was in arrears and I had to pay off a final bill and my current bill is in the future. I live on a fixed income. I do not have $300 allotted for phone service; nor do I have 5 hours to spend on the phone trying to get AT&T to correct my bill. It is not possible to for me to use more than 24 hours of service in one day, yet I have been billed for almost 48 hours of service. In addition, the reps will not let you speak to management, and there is no way to reach the upper management at AT&T to correct these practices. Has anyone else been able to find a way to fix this problem with AT&T. I would like to drop my contract with them; as in my view they have violated their contract with me; as a result I should not be forced to pay their buy out fees.
