I signed up for an AT&T contract in January 2011 and was asked to pay a $500.00 deposit (apparently required of all non-Americans) and was told by the AT&T store employee that I would get back my deposit after one year. Unfortunately, I forgot about the deposit after a while.
In September 2013, my phone was stolen so I switched to prepaid. It recently occured to me that AT&T never returned my deposit, so I called to check. After a frustrating process of being passed from one person to another, to another, to another, to another, and to another, I was told that my deposit had been "mailed out and cashed in in February 2014".
I never received said check, and had no bank activity as of February 2014. Please advice next course of action - do I lodge a police report against AT&T or what?
