Reinstatement of a Disconnected Service

My phone service was disconnected due to non payment.  I've called several times about the restoral process and each time a representative told me that all I had to do was pay the balance on the bill in full.  Once I did that, I just had to call and tell the customer service rep that I wanted to reinstate my service and I would be able to.  They told me I had 59 days from the date my service was disconnected to pay the balance and I would be able to keep my same phone number.  They also told me that all early termination fees would be waived.

Here it is the 57th day and I have made my last payment.  I called to get my phone reinstated and I was told that I had to have another credit check done.  Ok. That's fine.  But then I was told that there would be a $300+ deposit per line.  This information was NEVER told to me.  I talked to several people and Including someone this morning and not one customer service rep told me that I would be 1) subject to a credit check once the balance is paid or 2) that there could possibly be a deposit that has to be made.  I had to call back because the 1st customer service person I talked to today kept puting me on long holds and I was at work.  When I called back on my lunch break, that's when the customer service rep told me about the credit check and deposit.  This is VERY mis-leading.  Had this information been told to me prior to, I would have budgeted to have extra money for a possible deposit.  I do not have $600+ laying around for me to pay in ADDITION to the $546.60 I paid today ($1253.60 paid in total).

I have been a LOYAL AT&T customer.  I have had this same phone number since 2006.  I started off on my parent's phone plan and then transfered my number to have my own account.  If yall check my account you will see that the payment issues have only been going on within the past 6 months.  Other than that I have never had issues with my phone bill.  I could have not paid the amount and went to another phone company but I love AT&T and would like to keep my same phone number.  I need to speak with some one that can help me with this ASAP.  Can this amount be waived or broken down into payments? Or even put on my next bill?  I really don't want to leave AT&T.  There should be something you can do for a long time customer.
