Early Termination Fee

I had an account with At&t since 10/2013-3/22/16. When I called to cancel my service, I asked the man in customer service if I had a contract currently. He told me no there were no active contracts He helped me reset my pin to switch my telephone number to the new company(which was cricket- a company under At&t) and said the account was canceled and I may recieve a refund. 

Today I check my account and At&t has charged me $110.43. I call and was told first that it couldn't be refunded because 10 days had passed. Today is 5/4/16. He then transfered me to a woman who told me it was an Early Termination Fee and she couldn't do anything to remove it. I then spoke to her manager, Phil who proceeded to talk over me saying that I had a contract from 3/29/14-3/29/16 and that the representative may have given me incorrect information but that doesn't void the contract. That there was nothing anyone could do to remove this fee, eventhough I had called the company to make sure there were no active contract. The company told me no active contracts were on the account then proceeds to charge me for a fee that is exactly what I called to confirm I would not get. Help...
