Charged for a line that should have been canceled

I have been charged for a line that was suppose to be canceled a month ago. I was told the line was canceled but when I looked at the bill I was still charged. Had to call in about another issue on the bill and when asked about the line they said we will cancel it and the last charge will be on the next bill. When I asked why I was going to be charged again for a line that should have been canceled 2 months ago they responded with "because we are canceling it now!" Has anyone else had this issue? I'm so ready to switch carriers. Nobody seems to really care how frustrating it is to be told to call back not once but 3 times i've been told to call back. I remember when AT&T cared about their customers. What happened to that?
