CUSTOMER CARE ISSUES (which I realize is probably 1 of a million...)

Hi,

I realize the chances of someone reading this email are slim to none, but I thought I'd take a shot anyway. On 12/26 I went into Best Buy to take advantage of your BOGO Samsung phones, and walked out with 2 notes for my husband and myself. I have been hesitant about this switch, since I have had excellent service with Straight Talk (who is owned by AT&T) for as long as I can remember. But I digress, I gave into my husband who convinced me to switch.

I NEEDED to port my number. This wasn't because I have so many people that I need to give my number to, but because I own a business and changing the number of a business (just because I switched phone companies) is definitely NOT the same as switching a personal number.

I was told because AT&T and Straight Talk are on the same network, I'd need to go to a core store to port my number. I waited a few days because I still have service on my iPhone for the next 2.5 weeks or so.

By day 2, I hated the note. It was much too big for my small hands, and I couldn't get a really good grip on it. I felt like if I was going to stick with Samsung & AT&T, I needed to at least switch to an s6. Soooo, yesterday I walk into Best Buy, and swap phones. Then decided since I was already in the area of a core store, I'd port my number. This is where the REAL mess begins...

At 12:00 I walk into the core store and tell them I need to port my number. The rep calls some phone number, and they tell him they will call Straight Talk and begin the port. After being on hold for 5 minutes, she came back and said she'd call back in 15 minutes. Well, she called back... An HOUR later. Only to tell the rep that she was still working with Straight Talk, and would call back again in 15 minutes. She NEVER called back. An hour later the rep at the core store called again, and this person told him that they could not port my number, and that my phone number belonged to Verizon. This makes absolutely no sense, because not only does AT&T OWN Straight Talk, I have an unlocked AT&T iPhone, with an AT&T SIM card in it!

Anyway, the rep calls back once more, and this person now tells him to do a regular port (not sure how that differs from the one he began). Now the rep tells me that in order to do a regular port, he needs to  cancel my line, and return my phone. Then I'd need to pay taxes on the new phone from the store. I refused, because I wasn't paying taxes twice on one phone. He then calls the Best Buy I got the phone fromm to see if they'd give me back the taxes on a phone I didn't return to them (that was definitely a LOL moment).

Best buy said they'd try to port my phone number, but I needed to take the phone back to them. Now the new problem is that the core store has already returned my phone in their system, and cancelled my line! They wasted 5 sim cards to try to link my phone, instead of just rectivating my line. Except they couldn't just "reactivate" my line, since they phone was what they called dead. In order for me to even leave the store, they had to reverse the return, make the phone active again, add a new line back, put my phone number back as active and then I could leave. All in all, I left AT&T FIVE HOURS LATER the same way I walked in!

My husband calls customer care, and after he's on the phone with them for an additional THIRTY FIVE minutes, they offer $25 off our bill... $25 off a bill that is now at least $40 more per month since I switched from ST, that has data restrictions and other taxes that are somehow magically more than ST. $25 compensation is a complete waste of my time for wasting my entire day with zero resolution. After my husband refuses, a "manager" calls back and says the same thing. $25 is the max amount he can offer. After telling him that I'm within my 14 day period, I could return both phones and forget this all happened (and my husband chiming in 'do you want to gain two customers, or lose two?') the supervisor sits silent on the phone. Why did this guy even call us back? I am a designer that charges the standard $65 an hour for my time... Basically AT&T owes ME $325! But let's not get technical, we all know that would never happen. I want my number ported and some type of compensation of more than $25 from a company that can pay their CEO $26 MILLION dollars... Now... Can someone give me the name of a DM that oversees Phoenix, AZ?
