My ATT account was closed. Why do I keep recieving bills when I no longer have an ATT phone.

I keep getting monthly emails for an ATT bill when I no longer have an ATT phone. My account was supposed to be closed back in September and yet I am still getting billed when I no longer have service. Please help, I have tried calling customer service and they just transfer me to someone else that can't help me.
