We recently upgraded one of our lines to the next program and upgraded our plan. The agent on the phone offered to back date our plan to the beginning of the billing cycle so we wouldn't accrue pariah billing. I was told that the only thing that would be on our next bill would be our new plan and the activation fee. I received my next bill and it was about 75.00 more than what I was told. They did in fact back date my bill but also charged me partial billing. I called into the customer service and was given the run around. They told me that the back date was just for data not the service and I was billed a month in advance. When I tried to explain that I was both lied to and also that there was no since in backdating my bill when the data overage would have been much cheaper to pay than the partial billing but they wouldn't honor their word. So basically I was lied to and charged more than I would have been and customer service refused to do anything. I asked to have the call pulled but they refused that as well. Then I was told that I couldn't turn the phone back in and disconnect or else I had to pay for the phone entirely as I only had 14 days. How can you mess up someone's bill that they will not get to the next month refuse to fix it and tell them that you can't disconnect? How would I have known in 14 days that they were going to mess up my bill and lie to me? Is this how At&t works? I have been a customer for so many years I can't believe they would treat me this way! They talk you into something and then when it's wrong they refuse to fix it and bind you into a hidden contract you can't get out of.
