I recently contacted 611 to discuss the new sales tax charges on my bill. The representative had no real answer for me other than "we do not control how much you are charged per month." I was transferred to a supervisor who gave me some explanation that in Colorado the rates were increased effective July, 2015 but the increase didn't take effect on my bill until November, 2015. This makes no sense. No one was able to explain the additional sales tax charges. I understand State, District, and City sales tax-telecommunication as these are taxes for use of AT&T's wireless service. I do not understand the new State, District, and City sales tax (just sales tax). What have I purchased from AT&T that requires additional sales tax? Is it for my new phone because I already paid taxes when I purchased the phone. No one had an answer for me, and I was told I needed to contact my local department of revenue. I did, and the only thing the department of revenue can tell me is what sales tax-telecommunication and what sales tax rates are. How is the department of revenue to know what I purchased from AT&T to warrant a new sales tax charge?
