I wanted to go to another carrier due to some service issues in my area. So, I went out and got a new phone and new carrier (but with the same number) 2 days before the contract was due to expire. I DID NOT want the contract cancelled, but the ATT system cancelled it anyway when the new phone arrived.
I am MORE than willing to pay until the contract terminated on it's own - but they terminated it for me (thanks) early and charged me the $95 fee. I called ATT's service center, but nobody could help me, the issue was escalated twice - even the reps explained "The ATT system cancels the Account... it's how our system works" - really seems like an issue on the system side...
How can I stop this $95 disconnect fee? I did not cancel the account - it was cancelled for me by ATT... Please help!
