On July 11th I ported my phone number to Verizon due to the HORRIBLE customer service that I had received in the preceding 48 hours from AT&T. After being a long time, "valuable" customer I was subjected to some of the most ridiculous service I have ever received.
I was the happy owner of a 2013 MotoX which was sent the Lollipop update. You know, the one that you pulled about 10 days later and has all kinds of problems with the Moto X? (see link below). The update completely bricked my phone. After hours spent at the local AT&T store, as well as your "device support center" the only resolution provided to me was "buy a new phone". I was told that I was out of warranty. I was told "the update didn't come from us, it came from Android" (Like that should make a difference to me as the end user and YOUR customer?).
Since I was given NO resolution other than to spend several hundred dollars (again, I didn't break my phone, the update did). I chose to spend my money with Verizon instead of a company with such poor customer service. I called AT&T on the 11th to verify that my account was closed and was told by an AT&T person that I was "all set".
Today I received a bill in the mail for $128.62 for "Contract Termination Fee". I have spent the last ONE HOUR AND THIRTY MINUTES on the phone with AT&T "customer service" to discuss. I have been transferred once, then hung up on. I called back and THOUGHT I was getting help, the representative insisted on calling Verizon to see if THEY would pay my termination fee, which they don't, and then THAT representative hung up on me as well.
I will not be paying this bill as the entire premise of why I switched from AT&T was that I did not understand why it should cost ME money when YOU broke my phone with the update!
Since I can get NO resolution through your "customer service representatives" I will use social media and see if that makes any difference.
