A year ago I ordered At&t service, with in one month of recieving my modem for internet I set it up with tech support, then, sent the modem back because it was not wireless. I left the account active because I was supposed to recieve a wireless modem in return, that never happened so I just assumed the account never actually started. Well, jump ahead a year and I recieve a bill from a debt collector in regards to this service, call at&t and they say they billed me for the service that was activated. I never recieved a bill, and, come to find out at&t had the wrong zip code for my address which they agreed means I would not have recieved a bill, therefore I would not know that I had service. They refuse to drop the claim even though the mistake was on there end, is there anything I can do just to get the account out of debt collection?
