I upgraded 2 phones with the AT&T next plan and was told one of the phones comes with a free tablet. The tablet was not in stock and it would be mailed to me. I was not made aware by the salesperson, that the tablet had to be activated and would be on a 2 year contract. 1 billing cycle later ~6 weeks I saw that the tablet had a phone # on my bill and there was an activation charge and a monthly charge. I went to the store to return the unopened box, as it was my intention after receiving the tablet to donate it. I had no intention of using it as I do not need one. The store manager at the Kirkwood Highway store in Delaware said that they are not responsible for me not knowing because I signed the contract. They said they cannot take the tablet back and would refund me the activation fee but will not cancel the line. I signed 3 papers that day, 2 for the upgraded phones, and one I was told to sign for "receiving the free tablet". I feel that I was tricked into signing up for another line. When I called customer service to cancel the line, they said they are unable to as the system is requiring a payment of the cancellation fee. The store, point of sale is the only one that can reverse the charge/transaction. I currently have 4 lines and have been a loyal AT&T customer for over 10 years. The tablet is still in the box, unopened, and in the meantime, I am being charged a monthly fee for a line I do not need and do not use. I would like to be able to return the tablet and have the line cancelled.
