Did you know that checking your data is not actually reliable?

Hello AT&T,

 

Thanks for the email, but now I've learned that these emails and/or checking my data are basically useless. On 5/19, when I got this email that 90% of my data had been used, I shut my son's data off. Unbeknownst to me, we weren't at 90%, we were at about 200%, and were were charged $75 in overages. A kind customer service rep waived half of the $75, but I find this entire situation unacceptable. If I had known on 5/19 that my son was way over his data (and not in fact at 90%) I would've upgraded my plan. If the system had updated accurately, I would've known that he was really at 90% half way through the month and I would have shut his data off then. 

 

I think that AT&T's data tracking system should be more accurate or should come with a warning listed right on it that it may not in fact be accurate. In reality, it should say that it may be off by 3 or 4gb. I am very disappointed with this entire situation.
