Got penalized for being a loyal ATT customer for 7 YEARS!!! and sent to COLLECTIONS ???!!!!

I was an ATT customer for a long time and then decided to move to T-Mobile last year.I held more than 1 account with ATT mobile services.

The way I have been made to run around to get a clarification on an excess billing is nothing short of ridiculous. The account has now gone to a collections agency even when the notes on my account clearly say that I am yet to hear from a "supervisor"!!!. I must have called numerous times and spoken to "supervisor" " managers" who do not have a clue about anything rather than just transfer my line to some random representative to whom I have to explain all over again

Even today I spoke with "Laquita Heel" from the louisiana office and she made notes as well and told that I would hear from ATT which I highly doubt!

Sequence of events

10/8/14- My company transfers the account to my name when I quit

10/8/14 - 3 40 PM - Account is transferred

10/8/14 - 5 PM - Unlock request sent to ATT

10/31/14 - 1st bill payed for the services for 10/8-11/9

Multiple phone calls later and after being told to keep the account active till the unlock is processed, I finally did cancel my account/port my number to T-mobile still pending the unlock code. I was following instructions by ATT representatives to keep my account active and to not cancel it while the unlocking was taking place. I got a bill on the 9th  Nov for $60.00 even though the line was cancelled and was only active because I was told it has to be active .

2 issue tracking codes CM20141109_96556301, CM20141112_96657197 for unlocking the device after meeting all requirements

11/9/14  - Account ported/cancelled because I did not want to be with ATT any longer

11/10/14 - Unlock code comes in but does not work .

11/14/14 - My phone is finally unlocked and completely ported out of ATT

"AT&T can send you unlock instructions upon request, provided that we can reasonably obtain them from the manufacturer and that you meet the requirements below. You should receive a response within two business days." It took a month for me to get a response from ATT.

Why am I being penalized for something that ATT told me to do?
