Hello
This is to inform you that I had cancelled my AT&T Wireless Service on 11/11/2014 since the coverage of AT&T near my daughter's University of Cincinnati Dorm was really bad. I switched over to Verizon on 11/11/2014 and all the 3 lines were ported and activated by Verizon on 11/11/2014.
Prior to this cancellation, I had ordered a new phone thinking that the issue was related to my daughter's cell phone. However I cancelled the order and AT&T customer care told me during that time, not to receive the new phone which was coming thro' USPS. Accordingly, as per the advice of AT&T Customer care, I refused to receive the phone at my home when USPS person came to deliver and automatically it was returned to AT&T thro' the tracking # 9******* and the receipt of the phone back was later confirmed by AT&T during my various phone calls to AT&T Customer Service.
However since November, I am following up with AT&T to send me the correct bill since even though the phone was returned back and acknowledged by AT&T , my balance due is still showing as $1193.90 which wrongly includes the cost of new phone $814.57. I made several phone calls to AT&T customer care and Billing Department since November 2014 to correct the bill and every time I was told to wait for the next bill. I was promised in every call that my bill will be corrected shortly.
Finally today ( 1/16/2015) I have received a letter from AT&T mentioning the following:
(1) That my wireless service is canceled by AT&T since the account remains unpaid
(2) That the amount is still showing $1193.80
(3) That unless I pay this amount, AT&T will refer my account to a 3rd party collector.
This is a blatant lie since I myself cancelled the service since as a customer I was not satisfied with the coverage. The number was ported to Verizon on 11/11/2014 . So the question of cancellation by AT&T is totally wrong and baseless.
The Bill amount is showing $1193.80 which is totally wrong and even after repeated followup with AT&T customer care, this simple thing is not resolved. Once AT&T has received back the phone, the system should have automatically reversed the sales transaction and that did not happen. On the contrary, I was told repeatedly by AT&T Customer care that this will be resolved soon.
This is a total nightmare for me and as a result I am spending sleepless nights for the last one month.
Kallol
