I have been wanting to upgrade my phone when my dad's upgrade became available. Had to downgrade a while back, because my old phone broke. My parents called AT&T about upgrades and the new next program. They were told that I could upgrade but that it would change the plan that my family has, becasue it would be a new contract. I talked to a representative at the store in lubbock, because Im at college. I was told that using the upgrade would not change anything. Just would have to pay a one time fee. My parents asked AT&T again and were told differently. I am confused because I have friends that are on family plans and they used an upgrade and nothing changed on their family's plan.
For example, my friend used her upgrade at Target to get the new iphone, she paid the fees and that was it. No changes to the bill as her mom is on the next program and her dad just uses the same phone from his previous contract.
My question is, will my family's bill and plan change if I use the upgrade? How can one upgrade on one line of a family plan change the whole plan and bill? It shouldn't do anything at all. Also do not mention the next program, because I am not doing that. I am paying for the phone myself and would rather pay an upgrade fee.
All I want is to be able to upgrade like normal
I know AT&T has been going down hill lately, but it will be ridiculous if I cannot do this.
