I think there are so many variations of plans with AT&T that even you reps give wrong information.
Earlier this week, we moved to a "promotion" plan for 30GB family shared. Apprently it would normally cost $40 for each phone but has a shared discount of $25. And the woman said as long as we keep the plan, we get that price.
Well, today I go online to see about upgrading one of our phones to the iPhone 6+. We prefer to pay for the phone on a 2 year contract because I don't like the "Next" plan of paying full price for the phone over a period of time. SURPRISE! the online message says that line will lose the $25 per month discount for that so-called promotion that doesn't expire! Thus, by upgrading each phone when eligible, it will cost us $25 more for each line again. Thus, the guaranteed promotion isn't guaranteed at all. Note I am NOT changing the plan, just upgrading a phone, so this is a hole that AT&T seems to have put into the upgrades to get out of the gurarantee. What am I missing here?
Bottom line is the Wife will move to another provider. Next month when I am out of hte 2 year contract, I will also move, and in January our son will finally be out. I don't like being jerked around like this.
And by the way, the online chat person said that our bill would remain the same, which conflicts with the web site content, so I called AT&T and sure enough, she said when upgrading the phone, we would lose the data share discount for that line. Bad policy for us.
A call to the local news station is in order I guess.
