My wife and I have been att customers for as long as we can remember. We are upset because of your recent changes to pricing. We switched to the 10 GB mobile share plan a few months ago after a sales associate told us how great a plan it was. We were very happy because It lowered out bill by about $30 per month.
Now we are getting close to an upgrade and we find out to we will either have to pay $25 MORE per line (total of $40 each phone when we've been paying $15 each phone to "use" our smart phones) while also paying $200 for each new upgraded phone, or pay an extra $27 per line and do the NEXT program. We have always just payed for the upgraded phone ($200 each out of pocket) and had our bill stay the same.
The att person we spoke to today said, "Oh I guess they didn't tell you about that when they signed you up for that."
The answer is no, they didn't tell us that the money we are saving per month is only temporary and that our bill will rise anywhere from $50 to $80 when you think about upgrading to a new phone.
We want to just pay the $200 per phone for the upgrade and keep our bill the same price, like we've always done.
The sales person also mentioned when I asked, "Why are you raising the price of our bill," that att has to try to recoup their losses from all the phones they are giving away for free, or for $.99.
I don't care what att has to recoup. I payed $200 for my current phone by signing a 2 year contract. I shouldn't be responsible for paying for people who do not pay the same amount I do for their phones.
In short, my wife and I are now forced to start looking at Verizon and Sprint to see if they can offer us a better deal. We have always enjoyed att and have never really had any issues, but this is enough to lose us as customers forever.
