Hi there,
i am at&t customer for more than 2 years now, during January of this year(2016) i bought a phone from a target store and asked the target executive to add this new line and phone to my existing account. But the target store executive wrongly created a new account and added 2 lines with 2 phones (again mistake which we realised after getting the first bill). this was a mistake from target and target directed me to at&t to rectify the issue.
After repeated calls to AT&T, AT&T associate over the phone mentioned that the new account and the invalid line was cancelled and valid line and phone charges are migrated to my existing AT&T account. So essentially i learnt that i owe nothing to AT&T. After a month i received a letter from AT&T indicating that i have to pay the cost of the phone on the cancelled account. This is attrocious considering that i was informed that i owe nothing and i took only one phone and line which i am currently paying through my existing account. After further follow up, AT&T confirmed i dont need to pay anything and everything was taken care off.
Now i got a mail from a collection agency asking me to pay the amount and this has impacted my Credit score significantly. this is very bad on AT&T's part. i am suffering for no mistake of mine.
can AT&T help in restoring normalcy ?
will my credit score come back to what it was before?
i need to escalate this within AT&T to get correct resolution.
