I recently moved my wireless service from AT&T to another provider and I just got an account statement showing a credit of seven dollars. When I called customer service, I was told that this would be held "dormant" in my account and not refunded to me. Ultimately, the rep created a case and referred this to the back office, as she called it. I assume I will get the refund I requested, but why is AT&T telling customers that it will keep their unused account balances? I have never heard of a company doing this when the business relationship has ended and I can imagine a lot of people, many of very limited means, feeling too intimidated to challenge this. This seems like something that would make a [Edited to comply with Guidelines] and I hope AT&T will address it.
