"Unlimited"

Apparently someone at AT&T misunderstood the definition;
UNLIMITED-not limited or restricted in terms of number, quantity, or extent.
On 28 Jul 2015 I received this text message from AT&T,
"ATT Free Msg: Your data usage this month has reached 3.75GB. If you exceed 5GB before your next cycle on 08/04/2015, you can still use unlimited data but your speeds may be reduced at times and in areas with network congestion. Wi-Fi helps avoid reduced speeds. Visit att.com/datainfo for more info."
To my knowledge, this is the first time I was informed by AT&T that they were doing this with my data plan. I have had an "Unlimited" plan with AT&T for several years and I don't understand why or how this is even legal for them to do. I purchased and pay for UNLIMITED DATA! I should be able to use that data for streaming video or whatever I choose. If my data usage is slowed down it doesn't allow me "Unlimited" usage of the data, does it?! Throttling or whatever label that is put on it is wrong and should not be legal nor should it be allowed. UNLIMITED IS WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR AND PAY FOR AND UNLIMITED IS WHAT I SHOULD BE GETTING!!!
