iPhone 6 misinformed

I bought my iPhone 6 back in March. When I went into the store I was fully prepared to pay the $200 fee and sign my 2 year contract as I have always done. I spoke to an employee in the store and told him what I wanted to do, but he suggested I just do the no contract program. I told him no way was I paying the full $600+ for the iPhone just so I don't have a contract, because I didn't plan on upgrading for 2 years and I didn't want to leave AT&T. He assured me multiple times that I would still only be paying the $200 for the phone, but I would be able to make monthly payments on it instead of paying all $200 right then. I asked time after time if he was sure I wouldn't be signing up for the $600+ price and he reassured me every time that I would only be paying $200 in the end. I agreed because, hey, who wouldn't turn down a deal like that? I got my first 2 bills and thought they were high, but assumed they were activation fees. I have now come to find out that he was completely wrong and I AM paying the $600+ price on the phone and my monthly payments are now $130+ for one person and I can hardly afford it anymore. I've been with AT&T since I got my first cell phone many years ago and I've always signed a 2 year contract with my phones. Sadly, after being minipulated like this I will never resign with AT&T again. The employees definitely need to be sure they know what they're talking about before selling customers phones like this. Has this happened to anyone else?
