So my AT&T ACCOUNT was suspended recently for some unknown reason. I've always schedule an automatic payment withdrawal for my account and never been late with payment. I called AT&T trying to figure out why my account was suspended. They had told me that there is a secondary account under my name and there's also a past due balance. At first I thought someone had took my identity and open an unauthorized account with it. After arguing with customer care and the fraud dept and going through my bills numerous time I finally figured it out. My father had ordered an upgrade phone for himself for his line listed under my account (i have a family plan with a total of 5 lines). Instead of an upgrade he went and accepted the terms and condition for a second account. The phone came in and I did not took it into initiative to even check on it. He popped in his old SIM card and had me activated the phone for the existing number. So this entire time I never even know that there was a 2nd account under my name. I never receive a bill nor any type of notification from AT&T until my primary account got suspended due to 3 months of past due payment on the 2nd account that I have no idea existed. I contacted AT&T and spoke with the manager they were unable to help me because it's been 3 months even though the accounts shows no activity and the phone have never been activated or used for that account. They told me I would have to pay the full amount in order to have all my lines activated. I feel this is very unfair. I've been a loyal customer with AT&T and due to some human error I will be paying a hefty price for an account I never know even existed. Can someone help me!?? I don't know if I am the only one crossing a situation like this but if I was to catch this within 14 days the account was opened, I would have not waited 3 months for my account to be suspended to act on it.
