AT&T seems to make a habit of screwing up billing. I cancelled U-verse because the billing was a total and overcharged clusterf (not to mention the falsified contract promises). Now I have only my wireless service, which, prior to adding U-verse, was fine and was the reason I opted for U-verse for other services. But, as soon as I signed up with U-verse, my phone bill jumped by more than forty - almost fifty dollars! What The...?
It only took me FOUR HOURS, two phone calls, and a trip to the AT&T store to get the U-verse cancelled but I am still being overcharged on my wireless bill. Instead of just under $120 (taxes and fees included) I am looking at, taxes and fees included, a whopping total of $169.++ !!! Now, the way I look at that is I'm being charged a usurious $49 over and above my regular wireless cost. Yes? The wonderful gentleman behind the counter at the store confirmed that my billing should only be about $102 plus fees and taxes. That would be my $118.++ which I paid prior to the U-verse fiasco.
Now, since a quick check of this site shows that there have been numerous similar complaints from others, it seems AT&T either has a continuity problem, a personnel problem, a credibility problem, or "all of the above".
In any case, they need to address their problems before they find themselves trying to explain their accounting issues to the fed. They certainly have not been able to explain it to me!
