I recently purchased a new metallic gray iPhone 6 128 GB with a plan from my local AT&T store. They only had one phone remaining and someone else in the store wanted the same phone. I mentioned I wasn't in a hurry because I already had a work cell phone I've been using for many years. I asked if the billing date would begin when I activated my phone, so I can pick my own billing date. They said that was correct.
I recieved my phone in the mail and activated it. My first bill arrived for the full monthly amount. My account says that that full amount is only for Feb 20-25! If I would have known this before, I would have activated my phone on the beginning of the next cycle; like I made clear in the store - I was in no hurry. The right thing to do would be to bill me for the days I used my phone, not a 30 day amount for only 5 days!
Is this typical for AT&T to do? I was a Verizon customer for many years. They would only bill me for what I use. I was under the impression I was moving to a more superior company. i need this to be resolved or I will take my business elsewhere. If they won't cancel me before the first 30 days is up, I'll keep my contract and just keep my wife and kids plans on Verizon. Their current contract expires at the end of the month.
